    Job Summary:

    The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for providing support for all activities related to cloud and infrastructure across a variety of platform and operating systems. This individual must possess a thorough understanding of cloud and infrastructure technology backed with hands-on operational experience on one or many cloud platforms. This is a client facing role.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Provide hands-on cloud and infrastructure system administration & troubleshooting expertise
    • Maintain functional expertise on the latest compute, storage, networking and virtualization technologies including surrounding industry best practices
    • Deliver technology advisory and implementation services that extract and maximize business value from IT investments
    • Review all operational requirements with project teams, management and client services groups for deployment and ongoing support
    • Develop functional prototypes, demo, testing and training environments as needed to support system administration activities
    • Develop documentation for best practices as it relates to server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing technologies
    • Monitor and ensure system uptime and backup for network related equipment.
    • Oversee security of hosted services and applications including security requirements and architecture, risk analysis, and periodic change reviews.
    • Conduct security assessments (with security team) and make recommendations on data/voice network (LAN/WLAN/WAN/DMZ/Internet), disaster recovery, remote access, network appliances, servers, and directory services security.
    • Act as SPOC for all priority 1 service calls
    • Conduct incident triage and response, including working with firewall, load balancer, and device logs, investigating security events, protecting forensic value of data and establishing monitoring and incident reporting and response procedures.
    • Design, implement and provide support for all network related hardware/software.
    • Accountable for support for overall Infrastructure/ Datacenter (Servers, Racks, Network, Telecom and VOIP) Operations.
    • Hands-on datacenter management (servers, racks, cabling), Network, Telecom and VOIP, Rack and Blade servers, Storage, Backup, in mission critical production landscape.
    • Display leadership in working within DEFENDERS and with vendors to move projects forward in a coordinated manner and to ensure that internal performance requirements are met.
    • Serve as subject matter expert on all business procedures associates with assets and capacity.
    • Emergency communication system support including working with 3rd parties.
    • Conduct data center planning and analysis (i.e. rack space, power, DC modular containment).
    • Responsible for regular audits of EMS to ensure to ensure systems and process work correctly.
    • Responsible for analyzing production operations and initiates corrective actions to ensure operational stability

    Qualifications

    Background & Educations:

     

    Education:

    • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.
    • CCIE, CCSP, CCDP, CISSP, CISM, CISA, MCSE, MCSA preferred but not required.

    Skills/Background:

    • Ability and discipline to work and succeed in a fast pace and organizationally complex environment, to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology, and to lead and manage small projects
    • Passion for emerging IT technology solutions, industry trends, and progressive operations methodology
    • Knowledge of architecture best practices and experience applying them to solve business challenges
    • Ability to work independently and within various team sizes and manage multiple task assignments
    • Ability to analyze network packet traces (PCAP). Well-versed in commercial InfoSec requirements, guidance and standards.
    • Expert knowledge of firewalls technologies (PANW preferred), including VPNs and routing.
    • Expert knowledge of networking and routing protocols such as, TCP/IP, BGP4 (multi-homing), OSPF (multi-area), RIP, ISIS, etc.
    • Expert working knowledge in the operation of Ethernet LAN switching protocols and standards including, VLANs, VLAN aggregation, Ether Channel, PVLANs, Spanning Tree & Rapid Spanning Tree, 802.1Q.
    • Extensive background in planning and designing projects and analyzing existing network systems and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Extensive knowledge of network security systems, IDS’ and protocols including, ACE, ACS, VPN, GRE, IPSEC, IKE, TACACS, RADIUS, ACLs, 802.1x, audits, log files.
    • Advanced knowledge of DNS and DHCP and Microsoft AD infrastructure.
    • Experience performing configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routing/switching platforms.Experience with data center and backup service, management, design, build-out and best practices.

    • Experience with Load Balancers, F5 (preferred), Reverse proxy Bluecoat 1e, and CAT and fiber cable distribution systems.
    • Experience with multi-tier architectures, including best practices around tier isolation (for databases, etc).
    • Experience with SAN technologies from EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage.
    • Experienced in designing and implementing Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans and facilities.
    • Experienced in deploying any DHCP technology for a large enterprise environment.

    Minimum Years of Experience:

    • 10+ years experience in small to medium size business environments
    • 10+ years of experience supporting servers, networking and telecommunication systems
    • 5+ years experience with Enterprise storage
    • 5+ years experience with Enterprise networking (Cisco preferred)
    • 2+ years experience with Cloud technologies and associated applications (Azure preffered)

    Physical Qualifications:

    • Ability to work nights and weekends and provide 24/7 on-call support.
    • Physical presence in the office during work hours for impromptu meetings and access to information/data necessary for the position.
    • Must be able to sit without interruption for up to 2 hours. May be required to sit 6-8 hours per day.
    • Vision must be sufficient to read text and view a computer monitor for 6-8 hours per day.
    • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more
    • Must be able to work in tights spaces
